Sweet Grandma Gifts I Found On Twitter

Sweet Grandma Gifts I Found On Twitter

If you have a sweet grandmother, these sweet gifts for her may be right up your aisle! These gifts for grandma were posted on Twitter, but I’m sharing here! Read on!

I can speak of gifts Grandmothers like since I AM one… a Grandma, not a gift, that is!  🙂

(Yea. Yea.  I did that on purpose, you know.  hehe)

Now you may need to ask my kids and grandkids if I’m one of those “sweet grandmas”.  I hope I am though.

The cool thing about life, however, is that grandchildren love their grandmothers, no matter the age difference, travel distance, or occasional imperfect, sweet Granny.   Grandchildren just love their Grandmas!

And grandmothers love their grandchildren back!

#love Grandma and Liam

I think grandmothers are perhaps one of those staples in life that makes sense of who we are as we grow up and then how we fit into our own world as life continues, even long afterwards.

It seems likely then, with such sweet and precious love floating about, that children enjoy buying their grandmas sweet gifts.

I found a few of those on Twitter this morning, yes… surprisingly on Twitter… and thought I would just share a few of those with you here.

You’ll get to see the folk that posted these gifts ideas on Twitter, (I want to give them credit, of course), but you won’t need a Twitter account to see them here.

Now some of the Twitter posters may be posting these gifts as great Grandma gifts while others may be simply posting gift ideas in general, or even just purchases in general, of which I saw the connection as a Grandma and thought would be a good gift idea.

Either way, here they are.

Chef Kids Wall Photo

Posted by PinkPoster @ThePinkPoster

Do you have a grandmother around who likes to bake or who took your child (their grandchild) under her wings for a while to do some cooking projects with your child?  Then this Chef Kids Wall Photo idea by PinkPoster @ThePinkPoster might be an idea you like.

@ThePinkPoster has other cute ideas like this as well, but this one just struck my fancy for some reason.

I wonder why…..  🙂

Surprise “Hi Grandma” Coffee Cup

Posted by Mommy’s Coffee @Mommyscoffeee

Wow… this is one great grandma gift for a coffee drinker grandma… or a tea aficionado.  It’s even a great gift for a NEW grandma.  Consider this too…. What a nice gift for a grandma to be!  In THAT event, and Grandma doesn’t know yet she is going to be a grandma, make sure you give it to her already filled with her favorite hot drink (or even bagged beverage mix or tea bags tucked inside).

Can you imagine her surprise when she takes that last drink of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

The Hi Grandma coffee cup plus many more mommy, daddy, and family coffee cup gifts… AND unique birth announcements… can also be found at the MommysCoffee Shop on Etsy at:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/519812665/grandma-gift-grandma-gifts-for-grandma

Grandma Bracelet

Posted by VickysLittleSecrets @Vickys228

For the grandmother who likes jewelry, you might like to buy a grandma bracelet something like this one.

Now of course, consider first if Grandma has a favorite stone or color (gold, silver, etc) before purchasing jewelry.  However, pearls are precious stones and often associated with wisdom.  Plus pearls are beautiful in every way, timeless, classic, and enduring.

Doesn’t that all kind of fit the definition of “Grandmother”?

If you don’t have a special order for Grandma, the traditional beauty of a pearl bracelet can’t be beat.

A Book About Love

Posted by Chris Stevens @Padoozles

All right.  All right.  I’ll admit I JU—ST now put this on Twitter, but I JU—ST now happen to notice it and wanted to pass it on to you all here too.  All my ideas here had to be from Twitter though…right???…  so I kind of cheated and posted it there on Twitter first.  🙂

Well, consider this…

A book showing love for grandma, especially a book grandma and grandchilden can read together, can be one of the nicest gifts a grandchild could possible give to a grandmother.

A book, appropriate to a child’s age, can be something grandmothers share with their grandchildren – a gift of time, sometimes laughing, sometimes tears, and always love shared.

You can also find “I Love You, Grandma”, plus other childrens’ books for grandparents, here:  http://amzn.to/2nxT4tR

All these great grandma gifts are gift ideas you can either purchase or create in your own special way.  The idea is to celebrate the special love of a grandma for her grandchild – or the special love of a grandchild for his or her grandma.  It goes both ways, and that’s what makes life so nice.

Christmas Food Gifts: Great Holiday Gift Ideas For Everyone

Christmas Food Gifts

Do you remember getting Christmas food gifts when you were little?  Have you, as an adult more recently, found yourself drooling over a holiday food gift basket you saw advertised online?  If you ever received a Life Saver Candy Book as a child or a wine and cheese gift basket as an adult, you know that both children and adults enjoy food gifts at Christmas… and any other time of the year too in fact!

A good food gift is worth its weight in gold… (or cinnamon, summer sausage, java beans, chocolate, or sugar…  whichever applies).

Whether you’re looking for a Christmas gift for Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, son, daughter, boyfriend, girlfriend, preschoolers at your church, or even a college student away from home, boss, co-oworker, or friend, you can find great food gifts for Christmas that are just perfect.

Here are some holiday food gift ideas to get you started.

Christmas Food Gifts

Why not add a little holiday fun to your gift giving by shopping for your food gifts at a specialty food shop in a far away town! I took this photo in Fredericksburg, Texas last year. Christmas weekend getaway, anyone?

Homemade Food Gifts

  • Homemade candy and fudge
  • Homemade cookies
  • Homemade breakfast bread, nut breads, fruit breads, coffee cakes, cake rolls, and muffins
  • Homemade pie

I still remember a Christmas almost 30 years ago when I made a gift for my mother-in-law Jo. (Love you, Jo!)   I baked several different kinds of homemade bread (wrapped in loaves) and muffins (wrapped individually) – all ready for Jo to put in her freezer.

Here’s what I did:

I purchased two bamboo trays from Pier One; stacked them; placed the wrapped bread loaves and muffins on the top tray, and filled some more open spots with homemade hot chocolate mix and homemade hot Russian tea mix in baggies.  When filled with food and hot drink mix bags, I laid a couple of Christmas silk flowers on top of all the items to add a little color, covered it all with Saran Wrap, and completed it all with a bow on top.

They were gorgeous (I thought), hopefully yummy, and so much fun to make!

Do you remember that Christmas present, Jo?  🙂

I have always fondly remembered making and giving that gift, and I think my mother-in-law got many good morning breakfasts from it!

By the way, you don’t need to make tons of homemade food to give as a gift.  Even one pretty bread loaf wrapped in Saran Wrap and wrapped with country twine or Christmas ribbon can be a very nice gift for a friend, co-worker, or a child’s teacher.

Baked goods are great gifts to make with kids too!

Old Cookbooks Christmas Food Gifts

I just love this old cookbook I got from Half Price Books in Arlington, TX! The author, Kathleen Freeman, has included a wide variety of Texan recipes from across the state and has catered for some of the biggest Texan names in history. It’s a cool book, and had someone given it to me as a gift, I would have thought it was one of the best gifts I could have received!

Cookbooks, Vintage Cookbooks,  and Old Fashioned Cooking and Baking Supplies

Cooking gifts related to food gifts might include:

  • An Amish recipe cookbook packed in a stoneware loaf pan or set inside an iron skillet
  • A kid’s coloring cookbook with crayons and a child-size chef’s hat
  • A cooking magazine wrapped in a pretty dish towel that compliments the cooking style of the magazine
  • Magazine gift subscriptions for a cook or baker
  • A vintage cookbook with a dish you have cooked from a recipe from the book
  • Old fashioned sugar cookies on vintage white dinner plates or a traditional rice pudding recipe prepared in an antique dish you found at an antique mall or thrift shop

I have found so many beautiful kitchen items and dinnerware at thrift stores!  When you purchase something like that from a thrift shop, you are giving a timeless gift someone will cherish and appreciate while also saving money and helping others!

Food Crafts for Christmas Gifts

Food gifts to make include:

  • Easy food crafts to make with kids (Parents always understand the value of crafts for gifts, and cooking with kids is a fun craft to make as a gift!)
  • Cute food crafts kids love to eat to give TO the kids
  • Edible food arrangements – great for grandma and grandpa or any fruit lover you know!
  • Gifts in a mason jar – Feel free to use red and green candies as much as possible, but any gift in a jar will work!

You can find tons of food craft ideas on Pinterest, blogs, and magazines!

I’m sure there are many other Christmas food gifts you can find online, purchase in a store, or make yourself.  Hopefully though, we have helped you put your thinking cap on so that you will find just the right food gift for Christmas that will make the ones you care about very happy this year!

What kinds of food have you given as Christmas gifts in the past, and would you recommend that same food gift to someone else?  Share your experience with others in the comments section below, and help us all out!

Healthy Eating: Healthy Candies and Where to Get Them

eating healthy candies
eating healthy candies

Photo compliments of FreeDigitalPhotos.net

I just saw a wonderful recipe for healthy candy.  Can you tell I’m still slobbering all over myself?

Healthy candies?  Really?  You mean I can slobber, I mean really slobber, like slobber in real life, and still eat healthy… still lose weight?

You bet.

The recipe I saw was for a no bake coconut candy, and I saw the recipe at the website Whole New Mom.    Wow, it was great!

Check Whole New Mom for the recipe for this great, no bake coconut candy.

It is sugar free, dairy free, egg free, and grain free.

Of course it has some chocolate.  (Yea, I heard you ask.)  What is coconut without some chocolate with it!

I was thinking I would use some dark cacao chips drizzled on top, but there is a whole world of real foods out there.  The carob chips could work really well too.  Your choice.

The important thing is that you are aware that you can eat healthy candy as you eat healthy foods.

Also, as some of us need to do, (don’t worry; I’m talking about me), you can even eat candy and lose weight if you find the best healthy candy for you… and plan it into your diet in a healthy way.

You don’t have to make your own candy either.   That’s a good thing, but you don’t always need to.   You can find healthy choices, real food, clean eating, and special products for special diet needs all over the place if you just look!

You can order sugar free candy online from many online candy retailers like Russell Stover Candies, http://www.russellstover.com/, and at SugarLess Shop at http://www.sugarlessshop.com/.  There are also tons of  really nice sugar free chocolate gift baskets from places like Figis.com and low carb and sugar free chocolates from The Candy Shop at TheCandyShop.com.

Y C Chocolate at http://ycchocolate.com/ has candy products and candy gift boxes that are low carb, gluten free, sugar free, and all natural.  Their dark chocolate bars  made with Stevia look quite nice too.

Julian Bakery at www.julianbakery.com/, yes the company that bakes and sells the famous zero carb bread, has Paleo Candy Bars that are 82% dark chocolate which are low carb, sugar free, gluten free, and soy free.

Julian Bakery also has a Righteously Raw Candy Bar that has organic dark chocolate and acai berries for good measure.  The Bars are made with the low glycemic natural sweetener agave nectar.  Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

Then there is The Natural Candy Store.  The Natural Candy Store has all sorts of fun things that run the path of natural and organic sweets for all occasions.

Oh, this place has everything natural it seems, so long as it is sweet and… sweet.

You can get packages for parties and buy gifts to mail to someone special, (gift certificates for chocolate gift giving).  You can buy organic candy for Halloween, buy in bulk for holidays, or buy candy for weddings, knowing you are purchasing candy that is non-GMO, organic, and all natural.   The Natural Candy Store also has some candy tailored to special diet needs as well including allergy sensitives, gluten free diets, dairy free needs, vegan and vegetarian diets, Kosher, and well, just name about whatever you want (or what you do NOT want in your candy order.

I’ve been wondering if there is a candy made with pure natural maple syrup.  I found some Maple Cotton Candy at The Natural Candy Store!

I’m sure they may have some more candy made with pure maple syrup, but at this point (looking at all the candy I’ve been looking at today), I’m afraid to look.  I might just buy some right now!  I mean RIGHT NOW!

I also love their logo which says The Natural Candy Store –  “All the Fun Stuff Without the Funny Stuff”.

Organic grocery stores like Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe’s do not usually focus on sugar free candy, but they usually do carry good quality dark chocolate, and some will carry candy for diabetics and healthy candy snacks that are low on the glycemic index which do not raise your blood sugar levels.

Did you know Whole Foods Market has beautiful chocolate gift baskets full of natural and organic products?

Maybe there are some healthy food stores near you that might carry healthy candy for yourself, for your upcoming holidays and parties, or for gift giving!

Candy Warehouse at http://www.candywarehouse.com/ has sugar free hard candy bulk purchases as well as sugar free suckers, sugar free jelly beans, sugar free peppermints for Christmas, and sugar free gummy bears, just to name a few.

By the way, Candy Warehouse has bulk candy with free shipping.

Yummy Earth at yummyearth.com/, a speciality shop that sells organic candy products, also has free shipping on bulk candy orders.  Hotels, businesses, vendors, and distributors will certainly enjoy the free shipping in bulk.  However, even smaller customers who don’t need to want to buy in bulk can enjoy ordering their candy with free shipping when the purchase is $35.00 of products (at the time of this writing) or more.  If you order less even,  it is only $2.99 with orders of $25.00 or more.

If you are like me… to stay healthy…  I NEED to order a little less to have around the house!  Now THAT’S what I’m talking about now… portion control, baby!  🙂

Even traditional gift basket businesses like you see at Gourmet Gift Baskets, see them at www.gourmetgiftbaskets.com/, are jumping into the health food industry offering organic gift baskets and gluten free gift baskets that include organic candy drops.

Order Chocolate Gift Baskets Online

Photo compliments of FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Did I mention  the upscale and ever lovable Harry and David?  Harry and David offers some mouth watering boxes of sugar free chocolate candy and many gorgeous sugar free gourmet gift baskets and towers?  Oh, I didn’t mention it yet?  Maybe I wanted to keep all that sugar free candy to myself!  (Now that’s probably not a good idea though, if you know what I mean.)

Well OK… Harry and David… http://www.harryanddavid.com/

Whether you want some homemade candy or want to purchase candy from an online candy store or a store near your home for your family, yourself, a business acquaintance, pastor, teacher, friend, wedding, newborn baby, Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day,Halloween, a wedding shower, or whatever the case may be at the time, you should be able to find candy that is either just right for your or someone’s specific dietary needs or full of God’s bountiful blessings.

As much as I love the healthy candy I saw at Whole New Mom, I believe there is always time in life for a little more healthy candy and someone to share it with.

Just don’t slobber over the one you love.
